* in 1855, was the seat of the provisional Government of the Republic of Juan Álvarez against Santa Anna
* between 1864 and 1866 was fitted as official Office of Archduke Maximilian, due to his frequent visits to Cuernavaca
* finally restored the Republic in 1872 the Cortés Palace hosted the Government of the new elected state of Morelos, role that played until it was converted into the present Museum.
